Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and hyperacusis (sensitivity to sound)
What is the Condition about:
Tinnitus is a condition in which a person hears a sound that is not present in the environment. It can be a ringing, buzzing, or hissing sound. Hyperacusis, on the other hand, is a condition in which a person experiences an abnormal sensitivity to sounds that are not typically loud.
How I investigate the Condition:
To diagnose tinnitus and hyperacusis, I will perform a physical examination and may recommend further tests, such as audiometry, to assess the patient's hearing abilities.
